Volunteer and donation opportunities in Oregon & the Pacific Northwest
- Innovations Law Lab: Donate or volunteer – so far 900+ lawyers, legal assistants, interpreters, and others have volunteered in response to the request for help for the detainees in Sheridan.
- Immigration Counseling Services: Donate or volunteer to aid this non-profit immigration law firm. In addition to money, they need:
- Washington attorneys who practice in SW Washington, and people in rural areas of Oregon (especially east of the Cascades) who would be willing to be on a referral list to help with guardianships for unaccompanied minors in Special Immigrant Juvenile cases.
- Spanish speaking attorneys willing to assist with ICS’s unaccompanied minors pro bono project.
- Catholic Charities: Donate or volunteer to aid with Catholic Charities’ Immigration Legal Services and/or Refugee Resettlement programs. Click here for more specific ways you can help.
- Northwest Immigrant Rights Project: This Washington-based non-profit has a great list of ways to take action as an ally for immigrants.
Volunteer and donation opportunities nationwide
- The South Texas Pro Bono Asylum Representation Project (ProBAR): A joint project of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association is requesting volunteers who are fluent in Spanish and have some background in immigration law.
- Texas Civil Rights Project: Looking for volunteers who speak Spanish, Mam, Q’eqchi’ or K’iche’ and have paralegal or legal assistant experience.
- CARA Family Detention Pro Bono Project: A volunteer-built and volunteer-managed site; a joint effort of Catholic Legal Immigration Network, the American Immigration Council, the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.
- Al Otro Lado: A bi-national, direct legal services organization serving indigent deportees, migrants, and refugees in Tijuana, Mexico. Coordinating legal support for refugee caravans, and providing assistance to refugees, including infants and unaccompanied minors.
